The College of Engineering and Mines is proud to celebrate the outstanding performance of the UAF Steel Bridge Team at the ASCE Pacific Northwest Regional Competition!

Talented engineering students from universities across the nation came together for this annual event, where they embraced the challenge of designing, fabricating and constructing scaled steel bridges.

With an impressive build time of 10:05 — and no penalties — UAF's team secured 1st place in Construction Speed.

They also brought home:

  • 1st in Structural Efficiency
  • 2nd in Lightness
  • 2nd in Cost Estimation
  • 2nd in Construction Economy
  • 3rd in Stiffness
  • 3rd in Aesthetics

The team finished 2nd Overall, narrowly trailing the University of British Columbia. They will represent UAF at the national competition this summer, and fundraising efforts will kick off soon to support their journey.
